Louis LeCalsey, III

Lou LeCalsey is the immediate past President and CEO of Tufco Technologies, a market leader in dry and wet wipes converting and printing.  Tufco is headquartered in Green Bay, WI, and is publicly traded (NASDAQ:TFCO). 

 

Lou was born and grew up in Philadelphia, PA.  He graduated from Franklin & Marshall College (Lancaster, PA) in 1962 where he was a star soccer goalkeeper and still holds all their goal keeping saves records.  He was inducted into the Franklin & Marshall Athletics Hall of Fame in September, 2011. His involvement with soccer has continued through his life via his coaching of numerous amateur and Division I and III college teams in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Lou is the founding men’s head soccer coach at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay where his 1969 and 1970 teams went 22-4-2, were nationally ranked, received the University’s first post-season tournament bid in any sport and produced three All-America selections and the Captain of the US soccer team to the Olympics. He was inducted into the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Athletics Hall of Fame in 2000 and remains an active supporter of University of Wisconsin-Green Bay athletics, particularly soccer.

 

Educationally, in addition to his Baccalaureate degree from Franklin & Marshall , Lou attended UW-Oshkosh for his Master’s course work in finance and marketing.  He has, also, received Executive Certificates in business from the University of Michigan and the Thunderbird American Graduate School of International Business.  He is the first awardee to be recognized with University of Wisconsin-Green Bay honorary alumnus status conferred by Chancellor Shepard in March, 2003.  In addition, Lou received the Chancellor’s Award for his service to UW-Green Bay in 2001. 

 

Lou is proud of his military service. He served six years in the Marine Corps where he was a Platoon Sergeant in a Force Reconnaissance parachute and scuba qualified special operations unit and saw deployment in the Cuban Missile crisis and the early years of the Vietnam War.

 

His professional career in business includes 25 years of service with the Fortune 100 Company, Scott Paper, where his last assignment was in the role of Worldwide Vice President of Logistics and Procurement prior to the 1996 merger with Kimberly-Clark.  He had work assignments in every one of the 13 North American Scott plants and the Scott world-wide headquarters in Philadelphia, PA prior to the merger with Kimberly-Clark.

 

Lou became Tufco’s President and CEO in their fiscal year 1997.  Under his leadership the Tufco-Green Bay operation was reinvented and grew from $12.5 million in annual sales with 65 employees to over $90 million with roughly 300 employees at the present time.  Tufco Technologies is now North America’s largest contract manufacturer of branded wet and dry wipes, producing under contract with market leading consumer products companies. Lou retired from Tufco in late 2011. His business career is now in a new phase with his management consulting business, Boston Consulting, LLC. Also, in November, 2012, he affiliated with Differentiating Strategies of Appleton, WI, which is a management consulting firm helping small and medium size businesses in go-to-market, technology, strategic planning and operations solutions. Lou, also, continues to serve on a number of company Boards of Directors and remains as well on the Advisory Board of Bradford Ventures (White Plains, NY), which is an investments portfolio manager for leading Trusts and individuals. He is, also, a guest lecturer at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Cofrin School of Business.

 

His major community involvements include currently serving, since 1997, as founding and current Chair of the Chancellor’s Council of Trustees for UW-Green Bay, Chair of the UW-Green Bay Foundation Board of Directors, the Board of Advisors for the Brian LaViolette Foundation and past service on the board of the Green Bay YMCA.

 

Lou and his wife, Sue, have been married over 34 years, have four children, with eight grandchildren, are residents of Ledgeview, WI, and are actively involved with

the breeding and showing of champion Boston Terriers.
